One of Dean Martin's all-time favourite songs. The melody and original lyrics were written in May 1933 by (Richard) Rogers & (Lorenz) Hart. The song went through several trasformations and lyric changes in the coming months, as it was adapted for various movies and productions at the time. The song eventually evolved and settled into the song we now now as "Blue Moon" towards the end of 1934.
Covered by many artistes over the years, Dean Martin made his recording of it in 1964. It is this version that I have covered here. |

Blue Moon,
You saw me standing alone, Without a dream in my heart, Without a love of my own. Blue moon, You knew just what I was there for Who I was saying a prayer for, Someone I really could care for. And then there suddelnly appeared before me, The only one my arms could ever hold, And I heard somebody whisper "Please Adore ME" And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold. Blue Moon, Now I'm no longer alone, Wirthout a drem in my heart, Without a love of my own. And then there suddelnly appeared before me, The only girl my arms could ever hold, And I heard somebody whisper "Please Adore ME" And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold. Blue Moon, Now I'm no longer alone, Wirthout a drem in my heart, Without a love of my own. Without a love of my own Without a love of my own. |
